Tallassee's Most Memorable Peopleby Suzannah Solomon Wilson I want to give the listeners of WTLS a little background
to our project, Before Christmas I was sitting with my family discussing Tallassee’s centennial celebration. We thought it would be a great idea to name the 100 most memorable people of Tallassee. But as we began to talk, we decided there was no way to narrow the field down to 100; there are just so many wonderful people here. We decided to ask people to write essays about the people they remember, and we’ve had a great response! From high school students to octogenarians, we have stories about people from all walks of life. My family has decided to publish a book with the essays in them, to be called The 100 Most Memorable People of Tallassee. . .. And Then Some. The book is scheduled to be ready for release in December, just in time for Christmas. The proceeds of the sales will benefit The Olivia Pienezza Solomon and Jack Payne Solomon Foundation for Writers, which has recently been established in memory of my mother, Olivia. There is still time to be included in the book. The deadline is September 20. WTLS and Suzannah Solomon Wilson of Suzannah’s Photography are teaming together to help celebrate Tallassee’s centennial by asking people to write about “the most memorable people of Tallassee.” Whether it is your mother or your next door neighbor or the person who taught you to swim, we want you to write about the people you know and love. WTLS will reveal the "most memorable" on "The Wake-Up Call." The essays should be no more than 500 words, and they may be hand written, typed, or e mailed. Please use Microsoft word and save it to your computer or on a cd. We will also need your name, phone numbers, mailing address, and e mail address.
