Tallassee's
Most Memorable People
E-mail
your essays for a chance to win the new Images of Tallassee Book
WTLS and Suzannah Solomon Wilson of Suzannah’s Photography
are teaming together to help celebrate Tallassee’s centennial
by asking people to write about “the most memorable people
of Tallassee.” Whether it is your mother or your next door
neighbor or the person who taught you to swim, we want you to write
about the people you know and love. WTLS will reveal the "most
memorable" on "The Wake-Up Call."
The essays should be no more than 500 words, and they may be hand
written, typed, or e mailed. Please use Microsoft word and save
it to your computer or on a cd. We will also need your name, phone
numbers, mailing address, and e mail address. Submissions may be

The
Senior Salute
“Glory
Days, they’ll pass you by, glory days.” Most folks remember
the popular Bruce Springsteen song about times
gone by. Most of us also have fond memories of our school days.
WTLS continues a tradition of honoring those graduates from this
year’s Class of 2008.
Select seniors
from Tallassee, Reeltown & Elmore County High Schools will reflect
on their school days and look ahead to future plans on The Wake-Up
Call and Paul Finebaum.
“It’s
a way to hail the accomplishments of these young men and women,”
Wake-Up Call host Michael Butler said.
“These seniors have worked extremely hard. Many will receive
full scholarships to the schools of their choosing. WTLS and our
sponsors want to recognize their achievements.”
The “Senior
Salute” can be heard at 7:15 am and 4:15 pm Monday through
Friday, from May 12th – 30th.

State
Farm Agent Albert Elmore
State Farm
Mutual Automobile Insurance Company was founded on June 7,
1922, by George J. Mecherle, a retired farmer.
By 1942, the company was the nation's largest auto insurer,
a ranking it has held ever since. State Farm also provides
home, life, health and business insurance.
Albert
Elmore became a State Farm agent in Huntsville in
1960. He moved to Montgomery for a management position in
1974. In 2000, Albert started work again as an agent in Tallassee.
“I’ve enjoyed working in the Tallassee area and
hope to do it for a long time.” Albert is a member of
the Tallassee Lions Club.
Albert
has been with State Farm almost as long as his marriage of
52 years. Albert and Lee have three children
and nine grandchildren. From 1952 – ’55, Albert
played football at the University of Alabama.
While
a part of Coach Harold “Red”
Drew’s team, he played in the ’52
Orange and ’53 Cotton Bowls. For many years he held
the school record for the longest touchdown pass of 87 yards
to Bobby Luna vs. Tulsa in 1954. Albert was
a Graduate Assistant under Coach Paul “Bear”
Bryant in 1959.

quotes or to talk Alabama football, visit Albert at 100 North
