ECEDA
For
the past decade, the Elmore County Economic Development Authority
has been promoting Elmore County. When devised by Leadership
Elmore County in 2001, four facets were its foundation; tourism,
retail, industrial and quality of life.
State
Representative Barry Mask was on the initial board and served
as vice chairman. Elected to the legislature in 2006, he became
ECEDA Executive Director in 2009.
Mask
has seen Elmore County become the River Region's fastest growing
market. "It's become apparent that Elmore County is not
a sleepy little bedroom community," he said. "Our
challenge is to keep our rural hometown feeling. We don't
want to become too citified but keep our identity.
ECEDA
consists of 13 board members. Every city has an appointment.
The Chambers of Commerce, school boards and county commission
districts are represented. One member is an at-large selection
of the board.
Mask
is assisted by two full-time project managers, Leisa Finley
and Lindsay Jordan.
ECEDA
has adopted an ad campaign titled, "The River Region's
Wave of the Future."
"Perceptions
of Elmore County have been positively affectd by the ads,"
ECEDA Board Member Carol Thompson of Millbrook said. "They
see us as a place they want to locate a business or raise
a family. That's what we want."
