Tigers baseball returns to the airwaves this spring on WTLS.
The seven-time state champions will be among the favorites this
season in Class 5A to vie for the title. "We want to get back
to where (a championship) is expected," Tigers Head Coach Adam
Clayton said. "It got away from that for a while. From the
talk that I hear right now, the expectations are back."
Tallassee will dress 16 varsity players (11 juniors and 5 seniors).
Trey Cochran-Gill will lead a long list of pitchers. Several colleges
and pro scouts are showing interest in the junior. "Statewide,
he's pretty well-known," Clayton said.
Cochran-Gill's ability to deliver his pitches into the 90 mph range
has helped turned heads. "It's early in the year, he's probably
around 89 or 90," Clayton said. "This past summer when
I took him to Troy, they had him at 92 and 93."
Darius Williams can also bring the heat with his fast balls consistently
holding in the upper 80's. "Hunter Mullins is throwing the
ball really well right now," Clayton added.
Two Tallassee players have already committed to play collegiately
at Huntingdon. Seniors Brad Stone and John Woodall and will play
for the Hawks.
The home opener vs. defending Class 6A champion Auburn on February
23rd will be carried live.
1300 WTLS and 106.5 FM will broadcast all home games. Audio streaming
can be heard here. Live video streaming is available on Tallassee
Times TV.
